ELECTION 2021
In the Village of Halkirk, Council members are elected at large. The Mayor is elected amongst the newly elected officials at the Organizational Meeting after the Election. The 2021 Election will take place on Monday October 18th, 2021.
Nomination Information:
January 1st, 2021 - September 20th, 2021 until 12:00 noon local time
If you are interested in running for Council - please refer to The Candidates Guide to Running for Municipal Office for up to date information. As well, the Government of Alberta www.alberta.ca website provides an abundance of resources for those interested in seeking Candidacy.
The Local Authorities Election Act is where Candidates should refer to for the following information:
1.) Qualifications - Section 21
2.) Ineligibility - Sections 22 & 23
3.) Nomination Forms - Sections 27 & 28 - Please note that the Candidates Nomination Paper must be signed by 5 electors eligible to vote in the October 2021 Election. As well, the Form must be sworn before a commissioner of oaths or a Notary Public.
Due to COVID restrictions - Nomination Packages are available at the Village office by calling ahead and making an appointment to pick up the documents or by request of email at halkirk@syban.net

Voting will take place at the Halkirk Community Hall.

- A Canadian Citizen
- A Resident of Alberta
- The Elector's place of Residence must be located in the local jurisdiction on Election Day.
